Fort Steilacoom Running Club's

2000 Resolution Series 5k/5M

The Fort Steilacoom Running Club's Resolution Series has been run for the past 25 years. The Series consists of 4 races with the first starting on January 1st. The three following races in the series are held on the last Saturday of January, February, and March. The most interesting aspect of the series is that participants can choose to run either the Mile or Kilometer series. The first race is either a 5k or 5 mile race. The following races increase in distance by either 5k or 5 miles so a kilometer series runner will race a 5k, 10k, 15k, and 20k race. A mile series racer will do the same but in miles.

Awards are given for each race as well as for the series as a whole. The best three races in the series are counted and scored by giving the first place finisher 10 pts, 2nd place 9 pts and so on. The runner with the highest points wins in each series.

The race venue is just about ideal. The races start and finish at a local High School. Runners are able to gather indoors before and afterwards and have use of the showers, bathrooms, and lockers in the HS gym. After the race a hot meal of chili, baked potato, and soup is provided for all runners. No t-shirt, but you can't beat this series for the best value in road races.

This is the third year that I've run the series. This year I'm running the kilometer series.
